Hi
For some reason the forum would not let me log in under my previous user name Miss Redd I posted my SOA a couple of weeks ago and people kindly gave me advice.
Anyway upshot is I have managed to get my gas and electric reduced by £20 per month each and council tax over 12 months instead of 10 so thank you for that.
I wrote to First Direct about my husband's credit card. We had a joint account with them also. Received a letter last night detailing only the bank account and saying they were not prepared to accept an offer of £1 per month and that they were withdrawing our banking facility and debt would be passed to debt collection agency and would be asking for repayment of overdraft in full immediately. I have only just sent a letter this week to First Direct relating to the current account since I wanted to get our new Easycash account up and running first and they had not received it before issuing their ultimatum. Any ideas what I should do now they have said that?
Capital one seem to be amenable to a nominal offer which I was surprised about and MBNA have accepted the £1 a month for my husbands card. I am still waiting to hear from Barclaycard so im keeping fingers crossed.
Thanks

Hi
Good news on the savings on the bills so far.
Have you got the new bank account set up now?
The letter regarding wanting the overdraft repaying in full is fairly standard. They have to send it out to formally recall the overdraft. In your letter that must have crossed in the post what had you written? had you offered a token payment?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Hi - yes I have offered a token payment, sent them budget statement prepared on CCCS as well. Oh Capital one asked for wage slip and bank account showing outgoings - have sent them wage slip but not bank account - is that right? Ive been using the letters off CCCS and Debtline to write to everyone. I think my hair is going to be snow white after all this!0

I would probably just leave it as they'll get your letter anyway. I suppose if you wanted you could resend your budget and offer etc but refer to the letter they have sent you and just add at the beginning you are not in a position to repay the overdraft in full.
Some would say don't send a wage slip or a bank statement (or anything except your budget), but its up to each individual. I wouldn't send them anything additional but I don't think it will be a major issue that you sent you payslip. I suppose if they didn't know who your employer was they now would, and some debt collection agencies will try calling you at work but hopefully it won't be an issue with yours. If you do start getting any calls at work (or even lots of calls at home) then send the telephone harrasment letter.
It certainly can be stressful to start, hopefully in a month or so things will settle down a bit for you.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
