Has anyone used Stardrops in their carpet cleaner? I've got a thick cream carpet in the busiest room of my house, with 2 children under 5, so go through so much carpet cleaner and it's £10 per bottle!

i usually buy carpet cleaner from Poundland think it is called 1001, if there is any bad stains I usually put Ace bleach on it for about 15 minutes before I clean it0

Is that the spray Happy? I want something to actually shampoo my carpet in the machine. Stardrops say you can use it on carpets, but I don't know if putting it in the machine would mess it up?0

Hi, i've used star drops in my vax rapide, and it worked very well. please note that this does invalidate your guarantee though.
There were recommendations of using conditioner to reduce the soapiness but i didn't have any.0 -
Ooh, thanks Wantai! Machine was off freecycle, so don't have a guarantee anyway. What conditioner? Hair conditioner?!0

I use anything in mine - Fairy Liquid, Stardrops .. I've even been known to use shampoo and bath creme! As long as you dilute it well down, and the machine is your own, I can't see that it makes a lot of difference - it's all detergent, basically.0

On the main Stardrops thread (the I've seen the light one) there are loads of people that have used it - including me in my Bissell. It works amazingly well & I won't go back to paying top whack for their own soap. I think I used something like 1/4 stardrops to 1/2 water & 1/4 fab softener (to stop the foam). SF0

Thank you! Mine is a Bissell too, I'll give it a go later! Will look up the Stardrops thread too...0

You can put what you like (within reason) in a carpet cleaner, the major caveat being make sure what you put in is non foaming,as the pumps don't like it and if used a lot can burn themselves out.
Be careful with bleach as well, as it can ruin the seals inside the machine.˙ʇuıɹdllɐɯs ǝɥʇ pɐǝɹ sʎɐʍlɐ

Dear All
Please be aware that any fault caused by or contributed to as a result of using non-approved formula will definitely invalidate your Bissell warranty.
Contrary to some posts on the site, not all detergents are the same. If all detergents were the same, no one would need to buy washing powder, shower gel, shampoo or washing up liquid.
Each Bissell formula is designed, tested and manufactured in house with extensive approval testing on a variety of synthetic and natural fibres. The formula is put through rigorous endurance trials to ensure it will not damage your carpets, upholstery, or indeed the machine it is being used in. This includes being subjected to extremes of heat and cold, varying dilutions, deterioration and cling properties.
The reason for joining this forum and posting this reply came about because of a number of recently refused warranty claims. A number of customers had taken the advice of a forum member to use white vinegar and other substances in their brand new machines. This action damaged various aspects of the machines, including blocked spray jets, over heated pumps and internal seals of the machine and led to us refusing to honour the warranties on these machine as the damage was directly attributable to the use of non approved chemicals. One customer also claimed the combination had caused irreparable damage to an expensive carpet.
As a multi national corporation we take our responsibilities to our customers very seriously, and therefore we can only recommend Bissell formulas for Bissell machines, and we cannot accept any responsibility for damage caused to machines, carpets or upholstery when using value alternatives.
Thank you for taking the time to read this reply.
