E: 09/03 Win various prizes with cast off again

Options
"Introducing you to a great new free and easy to enter CastOff competition where we get to see if we can capture your imagination and tease you enough once again to get not one but two questions correct each day. Following the success of our February Feast of Fun competition where we did stretch most of you just a little, this competition is run in a similar vein but we've made the questions just a tad easier (we think!). The prizes once again are 'Mystery Prizes' but once the first few are revealed all will follow the same theme."

Day 1

Today's Questions are:
Dr Foster is on his way!! Gloucester (possibly)
The Mystery Prize question: Work, rest and play? Mars (bar)

    a) not sure (i thought sally struthers)..
The first or given name Richard derives from the Germanic elements "ric" (ruler, leader, king) and "hard" (strong, brave, court), therefore it means 'powerful leader' as well as 'King's Court'.
    and
Originally a patriarch was a man who exercised autocratic authority as a pater familias over an extended family. The system of such rule of families by senior males is called patriarchy. This is a Greek word, a composition of πατριά (patria), "lineage, descent", esp. by the father's side[1] (which comes from πατήρ - patēr meaning "father"[2]) and ἄρχων (archon) meaning "leader", "chief", "ruler", "king", etc.[3][4][5]

Could this be king or leader or ruler ??

Interesting.. so they said they made it to hard!

A patriarch isn;t a bishop (see my post above) and how did you get Burton from Richard.. was Richard Burton a Bishop then?
  • I thought todays was ROCK hard, but I then did some digging about and found this on CastOff's forum --- http://forum.castoff.net/Auction-Post/Competitions-and-Fun-Ideas/CastOff-competitions-are-free-and-fun-page-3-24-91

Tuesday's Winner was: Karen R who was one of the few who managed to get this real stinker of a question. It looks like this one was pushing the limit of the CastOff Compers grey matter.

Wednesday: Bishop Burton (Patriarch-> Bishop [ Ref ], Richard->Burton) - Mystery Prize: Twirl
