eBay is usually the best bet. Type Presario V4000 adapter into the search and you will find loads around £5 - £6. Compaq / HP tend to use the same supply for loads of different models, so the one you buy will also be labelled as working with hundreds of other laptops, don't worry!

Note that most of these cheaper ones will come without the mains plug and lead bit (with the 3 round connectors on) that goes into the actual adapter. All you will get is the supply itself with the lead to the laptop attached.

This will be fine unless there's something wrong with the mains plug bit (the dog chewed it etc!) - if that is the case, type clover leaf lead into eBay and you'll find them for around £2 - £3.
