Getting a Good Deal on a Decent Laptop Notebook?!

Hello,
I am looking to buy a laptop but want to find a good deal. There are so many different offers out there it can get overwhelming.
Here are some specs that I have in mind: (approximate)
AMD or Intel Processor [Dual Core Processor Variety]
1GB - 2GB+ RAM
128mb - 256mb+ Graphics Card.
WiFi Enabled.
Not fussed about hard drive size.
The bigger the screen the better, but I think for a price target of around £500 will get a decent 15.4" rather than 17" but you never know. So I am looking for that one special deal that says buy me.
Anyone got any recommendations?
Thanks.

People have been seeking advice on laptops on the Techie Board. You might get more info there. I've bought my son one from Dell just because my computer is from there and, so far, I've never had any problems with them.0

500 quid for that spec is tough going. I have been looking for a week now and have not yet seen any BUY ME NOW deals!!! There does not seem to be many deals around at the moment on the laptop front.
The best I have seen so far .......
ASUS f3j series laptops ..... prices start around 700ish The nice thing about these models is the long battery life 7200mAh capacity which should be good for around 4hrs.
Toshiba P100-429 ... 800quid from pcworld - quidco and voucher code may get you down to 712quid. This laptop has a 17" widescreen, dual core processor , decent gfx card ... all looks good bar the battery life of 2.1-2.3hrs depending where on the web you look. I have tried locating a high capacity (12-cell - 8800mAh) battery for it but thus far have failed. I saw this in dixons for 1000quid and my only other concern was that it seems bulky too.
The final option is the Dell Inspiron 6400 or 9400 series of laptops though I am a little unsure about screen and build quality. The deals on these at the moment are good though not great.
So far it looks like a wait till after Xmas!!!

I would avoid advent, ei-systems etc -- Sony are nice but too dear. Other makes I would consider are Lenovo and HP.Grocery Challenge 2008
Jan £103.17/£180, Feb £47.06/£120
£10 per day Challenge 2008
Jan 08 £17.64/£140 (Late start and lost the plot!!!)0
