Hi everyone
OMG im so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have wanted to be debt free for a while (mortgage aside which can be concentrated on now!) and had a loan which consolodated some credit cards etc which was due to finish June 2014.
So, came home today to find a letter from Westcot Credit Services to say that i owed £5300!! Obviously was v upset and stressed as i dont have that sort of money up front! Couldnt figure out why RBS had recalled the loan either....
After contacting RBS who i am sorry to say were absolutely crap - no contact, 1 letter allegedly sent to my old address which was never received, and a stroppy call centre staff who will be getting complained about - I found out that they havent had a payment for 4 months but couldnt understand why.
So, i contacted Santander.....turns out the stupid bint in the branch had cancelled my RBS loan DD rather than my old Bank of Scotland mortgage (now discharged anyway!) so no payments had gone out since November. Silly me, obviously my fault for not checking but the DD goes out of a bank account i rarely use and only have Online banking for so havent checked it for ages - having had the DD set up since 2007 i didnt think id need to!!
So - £45 of additional charges from RBS were refunded by a very nice man at santander plus an extra £5 for the phone call
:j
On to the call to Westcot - apologised in advance to a nice girl there who i didnt want to get the full rant without explaining why. After asking if i was going to pay the full amount off , i offered to carry on payment plan as i was doing to the RBS. She took a look at the figure and said if we could settle in 30 days she could accept £3k. Agreed to this as a big reduction off the debt - but called back later to see if i could get a little bit more off - Finally agreed and settled at £2600 :money: -
I am SO HAPPY!!!! Have worked out the figures inc interest and ive actually paid off less than i borrowed in the first place!!
Am looking forward to a but of extra cash now!!
So, all credit to Westcot - they came to an agreement that i was happy with and due to a c0ck up by santander (which they admitted) I am now, including would be interest if i took the loan to full term, £5k better off!

That's marvellous, nice to see their incompetence has cost them! Just make sure you get it in writing that it's a full and final settlement and won't be chased by anyone again.
