  • I have to agree with others. At the end of the day the state of your house is oart and parcel of your lifestyle. She will just have to get on with it to a certain extent. I would make sure the living room is clean tidy and inviting, that she has nice clean, fresh sheets and that the kitchen and bathroom is hygienic, but otherwise don't stress yourself out.

In the past i have gone on a mental cleanathon, thinking that (to me) the house was spotless only for my clean freak nan to turn up and look at the creases between the sofa (biscuit crumbs, sweet wrappers, hair bobbles, lighters and lots of other detritus!) To my embarassment she then spent the next 20 minutes removing all of the said items and examining each! At the end of the day you can't win so just do what makes you feel comfortable!!

  • bathroom and living room should be clean-ish! Have you considered bathroom mats for round the loo? Wash them daily then the spraying may not be such of a problem?

Can you teach DS to put a piece of loo paper down in the bowl and aim at that?

My men still miss - and the youngest is nearly 19:mad::mad::mad:.

  • Artichoke - your house sounds lovely and you sound like you've got a lot on your plate. Pour yourself a gin and tonic and stop fretting. MIL can like it or lump it.xxxxxxxxxxx;)

Love it! I reckon having a drink while you tackle housework makes it much more fun! Sort of like a cleaning party... hehehe hope you enjoy your son's birthday party :)
