bankruptcy discharge and credit agencies

my partner was made bankrupt about 4 years ago he has heard nothing since it does not show on the register so we assume it has been discharged are you not informed of this and is it up to us to update credit reference agencies from what i can find it seems the only way to get anywhere is to pay 60.00 first off to get a certificate of discharge can anyone advise:(

No you don't get a letter when you are automatically discharged. It is up to you to clean up your files. If you write to the old OR's office then they usually will write a letter to sa you are discharged on headed paper. As it is a while ago they may ask you to pay around £25 to go into the archives to check your details, which is cheaper than the official court certificate.
As far as I can tell just about everyone will accept that letter in lieu of the £60 court certificate.
