Saving Money on Kids Dinners

Options
Not all of us qualify for free school dinners but plenty of us are scraping together as best as we can. I have two kids and their school meals cost £2 and £2.10 respectively each day - that's £20.50 per week if I was to give them school dinners every day.

So I started making them packed lunches but of course there are only so many times you can make cheese sarnies and with one of my kids being as fussy as you can get, I was stuck for inspiration.

So after harrassing other parents for ideas, scouring the net and coming up with a few thoughts of my own I developed a kids packed lunches site devoted to healthy lunch ideas for kids that don't cost the earth, using basic ingredients that you can find in any supermarket.

I hope I'm not breaking the rules in recommending my own site, but I don't make a profit from it, I just want to share it with others as it's a great way of saving money and some of the ideas can be used for adult packed lunches too! Do let me know what you think.

  • I'm not so sure for kids, but there are some good ideas for me in there - I often get bored of the same old stuff (tin of soup or a sandwich!) so this will provide me with a bit of variety - thanks :)

    Hi Juniorsherlock

I've just had a quick look and it looks great. My 2 kids like to and will try new things so I'll be giving some of these ideas a try next week when they return to school.
    Thank you for sharing xx

  • I'm really pleased you like it! It's my first site and I was nervous about doing it, but all the stuff on there has been tried and tested by my two and my husband as well! I update it with new ideas every week so it's worth bookmarking.
I was thinking of adding a meal planner but not sure how useful this would be?
