I am looking for a mini laptop that I can take abroad to link up to my tv to watch TV
Am very confused with intel atom, celeron , dual core, ? also tv may be HDMI ready.
we are using a Dell insprion laptop ( 512 mg ram) at present and want a mini one .
Which is the best machine for us?

If you're going to be using a HDMI connection then you either need a CPU (Processor) or GPU (Graphics Processor) with enough horse power to drive a decent image. Intel Atom and the lesser Celeron will not cut it and you'll be left disappointed!
At the moment hotukdeals has an excellent offer posted on the Samsung Q330 for £400...

Good all rounder but maybe lacking a little in battery power. Probably the best you'll get for that price though.0
