Help - Is this Default Correct? Confused..

Just thought i'd update. I completed the orange contract i mentioned in my earlier posts, in fact continued with the line rental 2 months out of contract. In july orange still hadnt updated my credit file to show the default as settled (contract expired end of April 2011)
Anyway, i gave notice and switched the account over into my oh's name. Still they didnt update the default to settled. In early August i wrote to orange and asked them very nicely if they would consider removing this default.....i couldnt believe it when 2 weeks later i checked my credit report and the default has now gone, although it has been replaced with 12345000000000000.
Am i correct in thinking that its better to have a late payment marker no 5 (also in red) as opposed to a default. I recently spoke to my mortgage lender (woolwich/barclays) with a view to remortgaging/moving home, they basically said "not a chance" because of the no. 5 marker.
Thanks in advance for any help/replies.0 -
