Hiya,

I'm currently in a DMP, do you think this letter is ok to accept?

Dear alona1,

Account - ********

Following our recent discussion regarding a partial settlement, please find details below:
Current Balance: £3724.86
Settlement Amount: £2000.00
Settlement % of Current Balance: 53%

This partial settlement is available until the end of this month. If you would like to proceed with the partial settlement, you must contact me on **** to discuss further. Please be advised that if you proceed, your account would register as a partial settlement with the credit reference agencies for six years.

Please do not assume that any further payments received will count towards a partial settlement until you have contacted us to finalise and confirm the details.

If you decide to proceed, once the partial settlement has been fully approved on your account and payment has been received by the due date, I can confirm that no further action will be taken to recover the remaining balance.

Yours Sincerely
MBNA

    Hi

It’s better if you can get the creditors to accept the payment as full settlement of the debt, not partial settlement. You also need to ask them to mark your credit file as fully satisfied.
Otherwise, they could return in the future to collect the outstanding amount.

If you are with a DMP provider, it may be advisable to ask for further advice from them before you accept.

    Kind Regards
    Sue
