Cheers !!!!!!. Getting married and being in the forces has huge benefits anyway so if we do get married we won't be losing out. We'll probably end up renting out two properties and living in subsidised military housing if married.0

We are in the same situation. My husband has a house aboard (where he was born) and I'm a first time buyer.
Is it possible to apply for a mortgage jointly and me having the sole ownership/deed?
Anyone?

Very interesting post.
We are also in the similar situation. We were told by HSBC that we don't need to pay Stamp Duty if FTB is solely named on the deed whilst we are having joint mortgage.
I wonder if it depends on the lender because I've heard that some lenders want both names on the deed for joint mortgage.
Hope someone knowledgeable here can confirm this.

HSBC told us the same thing so perhaps they is a way not to pay the stamp duty if one one the partners is a first time buyer .
