Does anyone know their policy regarding accepting money off coupons? have probably put this on the wrong thread but not sure where to put it
We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

Tesco Head Office policy is different to the store managers!!!!
Technically, if they sell it in the store, they will accept the voucher off your shopping.
BUT - some MSE'ers have problems - some stores ony take it if you purchase the item, some stores have a % value against your shopping and some stores don't care!
Its trial and error - lookfor the younger "kids" as they do not seem too bothered! And make friends with the checkout staff - that helps too! Any problems, then plead ignorance!0 -
Thanks Charlotte.
they used to take vouchers from other stores ...do that still do that?We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -
Vivw - that also depends on the store!
And it tends to happen around Christmas time too - like our store will take Sainsburys money offs around Christmas but will never Asda ones!0 -
Hi vivw,
You should get more help with this on the Discount Codes and Vouchers board, so I'll move your thread over there.

I have used some vouchers from other stores at the self service checkouts before and that has worked.0

As we keep saying:
Tesco voucher acceptance is a BONUS but NOT an automatic right - you will find that stores vary from town to town, and even depending on the cashier.
My other favourite saying is "They don't sing from the same hymn sheet" which is true, one day one cashier will refuse everything the next they will scan several. Just hand them a few and see if they take them, if they do great, if they don't try again next time.
Try to target the young male cashiers who tend to work the weekends as most people have the best success with them.
My plan is always to bore them rigid with talk of the weather etc so that they scan my vouchers as quickly as possible to get rid of me !

Well said Welshy!
vivw, if you go to the top of this page where it says 'chose a search' change it to 'search Chat Forum' and enter the keywords 'Tesco coupons' you will find endless threads on the subject.
You could also perm any two words from:
'Asda'; 'Sainsbury'; 'Sainsburys'; 'voucher'; 'vouchers'; 'Tesco'; 'Tescos'; 'coupon'; 'coupons' in your searches, to read many more threads....there are loads!
Read as many Q's and A's from old threads as you need to, then give it a go. Make sure you read the Newspaper thread here every day - regular ace poster Crocker tells us if there are any moc (money off coupons) in the papers. And look regularly at MBN's magazine offers thread, mentioned in Martin's email this week, for what mags to buy for coupon-value etc.
HTH
(P.S. I just paid 35p for a tenner's worth of shopping - young 'evening lad' on the till at 6pm - I'm trying to avoid paying enough in any transcation to warrant dusting off the credit card too much, most days it works and all coupons scanned. I think they are used to coupons in my Tesco!).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi
They HAVE to take at least £3.00 of different coupons as long as they sell the item, and the coupons are not marked with another store. One coupon if you have not bought the item and two coupons if you have bought one item. Get them to call a Duty Manager if you are refused cause they are wrong.0 -
what store chain is this - is it their policy?Clairee wrote:Hi

i rather agree with the others that coupon usage is a bonus some i win some i don't and i try not to push it too much! every little helps!!0 -
10% of the total if the vouchers are for things you have not bought, even though the computer says tes - if you go on a self scan it will let them all through then a hawk eyed assistant will come and tell you off. Tescos and other large supermarkets - ALLEGEDLY - are coming under criticism/scrutiny - ALLEGEDLY - because quite a high proportion of their takings (as far as i know this is my view not the view of the site) are in money off vouchers. There is a link to an article about it on this board somewhere, I will have a root around...Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
