I've just been having a look online to see if there were any good ways to save some money, with the costs going up and all, and I came across this:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/article-1201291/50-ways-make-save-money-Essential-recession-beating-tips.html
I did do a search to see if maybe this had been posted already and never came across anything (if it has then my apologies)! A lot of them people will already know but I dont suppose there is any harm in being reminded in a nice concise list!
And this was in the Daily Mail as well..didn't expect that..!

Thanks whispywillow - scanning through that has reminded me that I need to deal with a couple of long-dormant accounts from years ago. Very handy to have links included to give me a starting point. Ignore billsavings - just unnecessarily rude.0

No not being rude just making a point that article/list is old and most of it, if not all of it is covered on the forum, and little of it is do with upping your income, and contains lots of Daily Mail affliated links which shouldnt be posted here anyway.
Whats wrong with the articles and approved MSE Links on this site

Billsavings: The OP posted in the spirit of sharing, in the hope that it would be helpful/useful to others and even courteously apologised in advance if it had already been covered. The wonderful MSE site is packed full of info, inevitably there are some repetitions and overlaps. I have read numerous things on here that I would probably struggle to find again.
Given the spirit of the OP's post, the rude tone of your initial response was uncalled for. Your points (criticisms of the age, source, legitimacy and location of her post) may be fair enough, I was taking issue with the way in which you made them.
I see that your first reply in this thread has now disappeared?0 -
Thank you OP for a very useful post. I've saved £80 by switching my car breakdown cover. :j0

You would have probaly done better if you had used this site and not a Daily Mail Affiliate link.:D

Very true Bill i am with you the on the links the op is basically posting a list of affiliate links which the Daily Mail earns from, and has very little to do with upping your income. Although they probaly thought they were being helpful .:D
Some folks cant live without a list though.
You would think though that people would have the courtesy to use the MSE links when using the site.
Perhaps folks need to subscribe to the weekly e-mail these things are often mentioned.;)0 -
Nice list OP. I agree with others that most of them are covered on this site - but it's nice to have a list all in one page to skim through and double check you've got it all covered.
I like the idea of highlighting my old bank statements to show unnecessary spending vs bills & food/transport. Might go find some highlighters0 -
I didn't mean to cause offence to anyone who thought I might be deliberately putting links up to give the Daily Mail money - this wasn't my intention at all, I just thought that it would be useful to post something that had it all in a list - i know i am a list person, and if i have things in front of me like a checklist then i find it easier to work from! But again, my apologies to those who i have offended.
In regards to the 'making' of money - this is a money saving site am i right? And the things in the list are ways to save money? I don't see whats wrong with that either, not everyone necessarily comes on here to find ways to make money! I may have put it in the wrong place, for that I apologise but being a new member, sometimes im not sure on where to put things, so I thought that this place ftted the bill from what i can see.
Regarding the age of the article. I did see the age of the article, but i thought it was irrelevent because a lot of the money saving ways on there kind of transend the age boundry - you can do any of them at any time in order to save money!
I wasn't trying to imply that the MSE threads are inferior, and i've no doubt that people DO hunt through everything seperately - but like i said, sometimes its nice to have a list!
And for the record, i DO get the e-mail!
To those who have defended me, thank you very much, i appreciate it, seems like you can see why I put this in.6 debts down - 1 to go: just over £1000 though, soon soon....

I read a brilliant book recently called Secrets of a Millionaire Mind by Harv Eker and there was a really cool chapter about 'money management'. He states that it's best to open up multiple accounts and to split your earnings into 10% segments into these seperate accounts. That way, you'll know exactly how much you''ll be spending, how much you'll be investing, how much you'll be spending on utilities and expenses, and how much you'll be giving away to charity.
It's the best way to save money in my opinion since you're putting money aside each month and not touching it, rather than keeping it all in one account and losing track of your money.0 -
Can't having multiple accounts affect your credit scoring though???6 debts down - 1 to go: just over £1000 though, soon soon....
