Scrolling isn't smooth

My son decided to reinstall windows for me today. (Very nice of him I'm sure.) Now though, when I scroll up or down it's not a smooth movement, the whole screen kind of ripples, that might not be the best description.

Does anyone know how I can correct this?

You need to reinstall the drivers. Goto 'device manager' and any yellow exclamation marks means youll need drivers (your graphics card/chip will almost certainly need updating)
Windows update will probably have some (wich operating system is it? XP?)
Others will probably require you to goto the manufacturers specific download section

Thanks so far AlienRik. In device manager the yellow question marks are beside something called RAID Controller and Video Controller (VGA Compatible).
Trying to find drivers doesn't throw up anything and I have no idea of any other information for these things.

If I delve into the tower, will the graphics card have any identifying marks on it?

Try doing a manual Windows Update and if XP choose the 'custom' option and then see if it lists any driver updates.

That might be the quickest way to sort it and if not then you need to indentify the graphics onboard chip/graphics card to be able to download the correct drivers.

If it's a Dell/HP/Compaq etc then you can probably Google the model to find the graphics.

SIW.exe is a freeware and safe program that shows all the hardware and software on your computer and may show what's inside. Download the "SIW Without Installer (English-Only)" option as it's a no installion required program so easy to try.
