This is a little embarrasing question.
My daughter is 18 and she suffers from bad breath, im not talking just a little smelly its vulger. when im talking to her her breath makes me feel like vomitting, its really bad.
What can she do about this. just brushing her teeth is not helping. you still can smell her breath through the minty smell and once that has worn off the pong is there again. Its worse in a morning but still smells through the day.
I am very suprised none of her friends have commented.

If she brushes her tongue (it does help, really!) as well as her teeth and uses mouthwash, then could it be diet related?
Failing that, a visit to her GP might offer something. An understanding GP should be quite helpful.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Does she smoke? Is she eating a balanced diet? These things can have an effect on your breath, as can gum disease or other dental problems. A medicated mouthwash could help a bit getting rid of gunk that builds up.
Talk to her gently about the problem, and suggest she sees a dental hygenist. I don't mean to scare you, but bad breath can also be a symptom of digestive disorders (gas has to escape somewhere) so a health check up might be in order too.
Good luck
It might be that her friends have commented, but she doesn't know what to do and just keeps her mouth shut as much as possible. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

Sometimes it is diet but normally it is dental hygiene. Its no good just brushing up and down for two minutes, rinsing and spitting.
Smoking is a big culprit too,
Brushing properly, for at least 2 minutes, using those little tepe brushes and brushing the gaps in the teeth (people think these are just for pushing food out but they are not, use them the same as a toothbrush) and Corsodyl mouthwash 3 times a day, every day.
If that doesnt help after a week she really should go to a dentist for a proper clean and some education in cleaning her mouth.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Above comments thanks, she a nonsmoker drinks a fair bit of cordial drinks such as robinsons summer fruits. try her on non junk food for a couple of weeks, with ordinary water, it can't hurt her, can it?
Rank bad breath will affect her more than eating healthily for a fortnight to see if it works... I know my DH smells awful when he's had a kebab.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Does it smell like decay?
It could be an issue with her tonsils. Is her mouth producing small off white coloured lumps the size of pin heads from her throat? I know because it is called tonsil stones and I had a tonsillectomy last year as that is the only cure. You need to get her to see her GP (which is embarrassing which will start the process). The GP might prescribe antibiotics which might take the problem away for a short while but it will return. Ultimately she will need to see an ENT specialist through a GP referral for diagnosis. I was back and forth from my GP for 3 years with this problem and tonsil stones was never considered. Within 30 seconds the ENT and the correct diagnosis and the relief I felt was unbelievable.
It is now a year on and I am so glad I had it done - it was an unpleasant procedure but I now have my confidence back and can talk to people close up and can have intimate contact again. The impact it had on my life I cannot describe in this post but the most challenging thing was accepting that I had an issue with bad breath because I am good health and esp. dental health.
I should also say that tonsils stones causes no pain which was one of the reasons my dentist and GP didn't diagnosis the problem.

Ay the end of the day its just possible poor dental hygiene as she brushes her teeth but it seems a quick process. When i brush my teeth i spend a good few minutes and brush each tooth. my daughter seems to only take about 20 or 30 seconds. All the big powers they've silenced me. Ahe needs to get to the dentist for a check up - they will check for allsorts and it may be that she needs a deep clean. 20 or 30 seconds is nowhere near enough to clean your teeth - does she floss?******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0
