Discover how rich you are!

From Ecotivity

The Global Rich List website challenges your personal perception of your own wealth, causing two reactions - makes you feel good about your-self but bad for others: - By comparing your annual income against the rest of the world it will show you that we in the West – yes, even you with your modest wage - are actually up there at the top when it comes to the global rich list.

And now that you feel bad. Do something that can help redress the balance - and also make you feel uncommonly good. Why not donate some of your new found wealth to charity?

I'm the 419,237,920 richest person in the world! How rich are you??

very thought provoking! makes you realise how good we really do have it in this country and how lucky we are to live here with running water, free health care a benefits system etc etc, i am apparantly in the top 9% wealthiest in the world:eek: it certainly doesnt feel like im rich after all the direct debits have gone out though  but after reading that i appreciate everything i do have and will certainly use it more responsibly in the future...
proper prior planning prevents !!!!!! poor performance! :p
Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realise we cannot eat money

  • I agree, VERY thought provoking. I checked it out twice. Once with last year's annual income when I was still employed full time, I was in the top 0.97%.
Then I put in my self employed estimate for this year which will be a lot lot less. It moved down quite a bit but I'm still in the top 12.29%. Just like angchris says, I don't feel rich either but should do!

  • It's a very good idea but if you put above a certain number (£109000, I don't earn this, I was just curious) it doesn't change so I don't think it's that accurate. I'll have to show my boyfriend though as he's in the top 0.98% of the world and he complains about how much he earns!!

I'm 52,706,770 on the list, top 0.87%. Excellent examples of what our money can buy.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

saw this on another forum, sadly the people there started to compete as to how high up the rankings were, since you can basically work out how much other people earn by their rankings:rolleyes:

So I'm not going to post where I am,except to say I'm glad I have a roof over my head, warmth to keep it warm, and food to keep my tummy full.

I'm in the top 0.94% of the population. But it sure doesn't feel like it...

  • At this time of severe afluenza when people are worrying if they have spent enough money to demonstrate their love and affection to people:o it should be enough to make people stop and think just how lucky they are.

My DS argued that we are not as lucky as is says because of our higher cost of living but he is forgetting the things we take for granted that others just don't have. I know that personally I am thankful I sleep safe in my bed each night, have a home to call my own, running water - sometimes even hot! And now even central heating. There is a huge choice of food in our shops and still we want more.

A martian may be a little confused if he landed and saw that one part of the world lives like this and the other parts struggle to provide us with organic beans to be flown around the world for us to eat totally out of season. We tuck into lots of chocolate at Christmas but many of the growers have never been able to afford to buy a bar:eek:
