My late uncle did it, in the end it cost way more than he expected and the earnings were not good.
Simply too many people offering the service that more and more people cannot afford. He also found it hard to get new customers as many people go by word of mouth and so many families/neighbours use the same instructor for all their kids over the years.

I'm a driving instructor and pay as you go is the cheapest way to do it. Go with a local independent driving school that charges you lessons by the hour. You won't need any help doing part 1 as it's all online revision and book reading. For part 2 you'll probably need at most 10 hours. And for part 3 you will need the approximately 40 hours. We charge £30 an hour at the driving school I work for so at most you'll spend £1500 on lessons. And you can pay weekly rather than all in one go or have to take out a loan. These big companies do not give you one to one training so you pay a lot of money and don't get a lot in return. They also don't have a very high pass rate so my advice is call all the local schools in your area. Speak to them and see which one sounds like they know what they're doing. If you start with them and don't like them, change!
