    Hello, I bought a house at the same time as you did and sadly I am in the same place as you, except I am on my own now.Google the famous people that went bankrupt, it is suprising.I am in fear of this too but my army of :money:MSE ( friends that havent met) that over the time have given me advice and support over other things will be here flying my flag.I think like this,no one sets out in life to be homeless, BR,in debt etc, circumstances take you there.I come from work and look at my doorstep to see what letters are there. i dread the phone ringing,i dread having visitors incase a debt collector calls at my home whilst they are there.I am currently saving for my fees so that I can for the first time in32 years be debt free.

    I think thats the telling point..you know that you would actually rather face the BR than the constant lack of sleep from worrying about how you are going to do the food shop..the dread at seeing mail come through the door..

    Our problems started when I nearly died after giving birth and that started the downward spiral..my marriage is on the rocks also:(
  • so as my sig says, I am facing my debt full face. i ask myself, this is material.i have no family home now, I dont have any possessions worth much of anything and I am living in rented accomadtion.I have since my marriage broke down , (4years ago ) lost my Wonderful Dad , I kiss his photo that sits on my fridge in my rented house and wish with all my heart I ahd gone BR whilst he was here, i wouldnt have needed to work quite so much as i was and still am at the moment (to save for fees).I think what I amtrying to say is that the things that we have are just that things , it is the people that make us live.Good luck OP ,xx

    apart from what are considered essentials for modern living...really, what other possessions do we need?

    We live in a world governed by materialism....we are brainwashed into believing possessions are all, and technology is all.

    But neither keeps the wolf from the door...
    No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

    I never cared for material possessions..but I have a mother whose whole life revolves around new things..as I speak..they are just about to have a 10 grand kitchen installed when their other one is beautiful..her life revolves around updating her house..so at the moment she is constantly telling me how Ive failed and have nothing

    That's generally because folk don't understand that the truly valuable things in life are literally priceless
    - love for/from friends, family;
    kindness /kind words from strangers, family, friends;
    support from other people (whether we 'know' them or not! and that includes all you amazing folk on here :D)

    When we have that kind of abundance we are wealthy and don't need 'stuff' to help us feel worthwhile or worthy.
