Stress over who to invite from work!

Hi guys!

Is anyone in the same boat as me? I started a new job in September. I'm trying to work out how to invite people from work without offending anyone.

I have already invited my best friend from work when the first round of invites went out.

I'd like to invite one of the TA's who I work closely with, but not the other one I work closely with. I don't want to invite my line manager or his girlfriend who I also work with. I'd also like to invite another of the teachers.

How can I do this without offending anyone? I don't think anyone from work actually expects to be invited, but these are people I'd like to invite to the evening do.

I'm going to invite them privately, and ask them not to mention it to any other staff, but what do I say if anyone spills the beans? I suppose people are going to find out anyway aren't they, so why am I worrying? I should just do what I want to do, but it's a small school.

    I've been Money Tipped!
You have to invite who YOU want. However I understand because I work in a school and am in the same boat! Luckily I have until next June to figure it out.
Sorry not much help but I think invite who you want to be there.

Me too!! Can't offer any advice! Part of me is thinking to make it easier on myself to not invite any of them.
  • A girl from where I worked invited 3 or 4 ppl with whom she worked pretty closely with but didn't invite her manager, personal assistant (who actually helped organise alot of the wedding during work hours!) or any of her actual team - there were a few offside comments but most people totally understood that she couldn't invite everyone!

Invite who you want and just explain that as much as you'd like to invite everyone from work, your budget just cannot allow for it!

Weddings and other events go off all the time at work and not everybody gets invited - I wouldn't worry about it - If people want a night out then usually there is a big "works night out - everyone invited".
Just invite who you want personally to the wedding . I suppose another option is invite more people to the reception later? Again though its your choice.

I was in the same situation. I basically chose who i wanted more than others and when anyone asked about coming i just said everyones names went into a hat and it was decided that way and this is because we couldnt invite everyone as it would cost too much
