Is there much difference?
Thinking of joining up, but not sure which to go for. Cost-co is a few miles closer to where I live

i use both- but for different things.
makro is free to join- so you may as well, even if you don't use it that often
i usually get toilet roll on bogof there when they have it.
but i don't like their ambience/customer service.
costco will cost you £20-25 per year but you can quit and get a refund anytime if you don't like/need it anymore.
the customer service is second to none
i joined for the tyres
but i stayed for the american products i can't get elsewhere
and the special deals
(got my winter crampons, xmas pressies, special foodstuff and bakery items to die for (cheap too)
like customized birthday cake that would feed a crowd for £12)0 -
Think Wolfehouse has summed it up perfectly.
We also have both, but what really sets them apart for me is the Costco attention to customer service. The products are not always the cheapest, but their quality is second to none. Excellent meat and decent bakery.
And just the one point to add - their cafe is super cheap, although a limited range on offer. Where else can you get a reasonable jacket potato with chilli and cheese for £1.25? - and free refills on your sodas?
Would suggest you get yourself down there and take a look - I think they give you a free pass to look around - but think if you want to buy you then have to join.0 -
Have found Costco to be the best. Have boughts heaps from them including a bed, hubby has bought power tools etc and quality is second to none. Their refund policy is ace, electronic toothbush broke after 14 months. Of course I did not have the receipt or packaging but refunded without a quibble. You do not need to have receipts to exchange/refund anything as all purchases are on your card. Quality of food is fantastic, meat is such good quality. Quality of homewares etc from Makro just dont compare. And yes Costco cafe v cheap and yummy.0

Belong to both via the company i work with,Costco definitely better quality and good guarentees and cust services.
Makro may have a wider choice but they are very expensive, even with stuff on offer so dont use any more, unless you can recoup all the VATnever put off buying a bargain today,it may be gone tomorrow0
