'Daily' Shower Cleaner

Options
Does 'Daily Shower Cleaner' (sold in cleaning aisles, in a clear bottle, supposed to stop limescale build up) actually work? If so, how does it work?

Can anyone suggest a more 'moneysaving' alternative?

i usually clean my shower head in a mixture of vinegar and bicarb sounds strange but works not everyday as i used a normal bathroom cleaner, but probably do it approx once a month

  • I dilute the cheap multi purpose cleaner usually 1 part cleaner to 3 parts water into a spray bottle and use this in both bathroom and kitchen and is great at keeping things squeeky clean

We live in a hard water area and I use a daily shower spray on our glass shower doors (I use the Method brand, it's not the cheapest but I like the smell and the lack of chemicals). I think it does make a difference, if I'm consistent with using it then the doors do seem to stay scale-free for longer between each deep clean. I'm not entirely sure how it works - the Method stuff seems mainly to contain ingredients that dissole stains, dissolve hard water deposits and boost alkalinity (as well as fragrance). From the ingredients list it looks like there's something a bit soapy in there too. I'm guessing you could probably make something similar with vinegar, bicarb, essential oils and maybe some alcohol to emulsify the essential oils.

there are quite a few shower threads which should help :) My Mum gave me a load of cleaning stuff so I am using that up at the moment. I;ve never used the one you mention though.

really stubborn limescale should help and descaling a shower head

    other useful links

Shower screen spray and cleaning glass shower doors and cleaning shower drain

there is also an older cleaning index here

    Ill merge this later :)

I have tried lots of different brands of "daily" cleaners on my shower cubicle (glass door) over the years, and the only one I find truly works is "Clean Shower" by Lakeland. I think it is a bit pricy, but worth it - I can't stand manky bathrooms, and I don't find it easy to do the thorough cleaning I used to be able to (I have MS). This product cuts the deep cleaning needed right down :j

I use this and it's excellent. Not very MS but I buy it only on offer and once it's about half used I top it up with water.
  • I clean the shower screen with a Lakeland window cleaner's rubber thingy every time I use it, it stops most of the limescale build up and probably costs less in the long run than chemicals.
