DON'T!! I tried the inside of cereal packet once and it melted onto the baking tray and won't budge.

(I also wash and keep them for freezing stuff like bread when I split the loaf)

Does anyone have a pressure cooker? How often do you use it and what sort of thing do you cook? I know there are threads and I'm just looking at them now, but it would be useful if I could pick someone's brains.

I have a pressure cooker, I bought it from the car boot sale last year for a few pounds, it was in its box with the instructions. I've managed to bury it in the shed as we moved a load of stuff at the same time so I've never used it!

I did manage to find a really good small "pressure cooking" book in a second hand book shop and whenever I find the pressure cooker I'll have a go.

I'm a bit scared of pressure cookers, I remember my mum having one in the 70's :rotfl:

I never line cake tins. I just grease them with the wrapper off the butter. Never have any problems.

SO pleased for you kidkat :T:T:T

Esther, have you got any foil? You could line your cake tin with that - you can always peel the foil off afterwards (ask me how I know).

As you lot know everything, could you please tell me what I've done with my recipe book? The one I write my recipes in? I promised tigerfeet a non-alcoholic sticky chicken recipe which is as nice if not nicer than my Chinese chicken and my blue index book containing nearly 30 years' worth of recipes has vanished. Any ideas???:D:D

All right, you can stop looking, I've found it. I correctly guessed that it would be Down The Back Of The Freezer.

For those who want to move on from the Chinese Chicken recipe, here is the Sticky Chicken recipe.

Take a pack of thighs and drumsticks. Take two. They're often on BOGOF. Spread out on a large baking dish (NOT a tray as you will get quite a bit of stock).

Now mix together one teaspoonful each of:

    Salt
    Pepper
    Garlic
    Ginger
    Paprika

(I use the garlic and ginger in a jar from the Asian shop and just put in two tsps of that). Mix this into a paste and smear over the chicken pieces. As long as you've got a bit on all of them don't worry too much.

Put in the oven on 140C for one hour. There will be quite a lot of liquid. Drain it - you can keep it for something else but you don't need it for this.

While the chicken is cooking, mix together

    1tblsp Worcestershire sauce
    1/2 cup soy sauce
    2/3 cup brown sugar and
    3 tblsp molasses (see below)

BUT I never have molasses, so I just use 1 cup of Billington's Molasses sugar instead. You could also use treacle I suppose. If you've only got brown sugar then I would just use one cup of that.

Stir this in a jug, then chuck all over the chicken so it's well coated. Increase the heat to 170C and put back in the oven. Baste your chicken occasionally. You're supposed to leave it in for another hour, but I find it doesn't take as long as that. You will have crispy, sticky chicken which you can pick up and eat with your fingers. Words can't describe how yummy this is. A definite summery dish, to serve with potato salad - hot or cold.

Congratulations Kidkat :j:j:j I'm really chuffed for you :j

Don't worry about crying, my 6ft 2 roughty tuffty husband cries whenever he collects the dog from the vets, the nurses have got used to him :D

Well I can beat that. Remember the Disney film, Tarzan? There is a bit in the film where Phil Collins is singing 'Youll be in my heart' and the mummy gorilla is bonding with baby Tarzan. It is a sweet scene. My husbands face was wet with silent happy tears, hehe!!!! He's never lived it down. The shame!

Great news Kidcat--when do you move?

İ am really peeved today --i hate Turkey's taxman--robbing bstards! they stole 200 quid off me without explaining the reason! they just said NO to my appeal! and plonked the phone down.
Not been a good day because we also had a huge electric bill--it is up about 40pc due to DD's continual use of her fire in her bedroom--it really chews up energy because she seems to want to live in a sauna--i am not brave enough to front her up because DH is still hormonal and i cant win these days!--apart from that life is just basically getting more expensive! my hours are tailing off at work and i am earning less so its catching me both ways!-i do wish i could control things but not speaking the lingo i am at the mercy of my wife who doesnt have 'care' when dealing with money matters like 'we' do!
    mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.
