My sloes came out of the gin like bullets - gin was ok though and yes I might have put one out for the big rat that has a habit of visiting the bird table.

Hi all. I just wanted to share a lovely compliment my yogurt mad son just paid me. He asked if he could flavour our 'hm thermos yogurt'. Of course I allowed him to. He added a swirl of sainsburys basics honey (61p a pot!) and some preserve cherries that need to be used up and then crushed some cereal (b&m 59p a box, organic cherry & coconut harvest) over the top. He said it is the best yogurt he has EVER tasted. It is way nicer than even fruit corners apparently!!!

I am so made up with that as it only costs 39p a litre as I am now using UHT skimmed milk. Not bad for mega fresh bio yogurt, eh!!!

    8-)
Jumblejack - could you share your recipe for hm yogurt. I've tried a few times (even using a lakeland yoghurt maker) but mine always comes out really runny and not much more than slightly soured milk. It sounds like you've got it sussed!

Someone was asking earlier in the thread about where to buy airlocks and stuff for home brewing/fermenting. I have found them on ebay quite cheaply :)

Also, instead of demi-johns you can use a large, empty bottle of water :) Much lighter to move than a demi-john too :)

Pinkwinged thank you for the leftovers link - I always cube and freeze lo joints & gravy. Chicken carcasses always get picked over to get meat for a pie or sauce and the remaining bones and skin are used to make stock. As you can see that forum is just the ticket for me.
Frugal thanks for the ebay info - I have never used ebay but might ask DD1 to look into it for me. The water bottle idea is a good one, I hadn't thought of that,
    Cheers, Silver x
