I don't think I could go as far as paying the undertaker or minister yet.......don't think a minister should be paid, but hey, it'll give wee Jimmy a go at University;)

The guy I know is a "sort of Atheist", likes to boast about no God, but is happy being buried in a church graveyard....sometimes these Atheists don't actually know what they are:rotfl:

Can help you a bit with any questions you have. Funeral plan will cover main things, herse, funeral director, coffin, embalming etc. Will not cover newspaper notices, flowers etc. Some may include a addiditional car and some maynot.

Everyone if possible should have a funeral plan, the rate which they increase in price is high and paying for it now protects from that price rise.
Are you looking at an indeendent FD or a chain?

I dont mind if its an independent or a chain ,but how do I know my plan is safe if either go bust .I have never known a funeral director go bust but you never know. Do any chain FD operate in Northern Ireland .

Loads of FD have more than one branch, may suit some but with maybe 40 funerals a week it can lose the personal touch and no guarantees which FD will be assisting.

No FD will hold the money themselves. They use an external company, EG Golden Charter who keep the money and then pay it to the FD in event of your death. You specify the FD you wish in your plan but this can easily be changed if EG you move house. Just add it to the list of address changes you would already have to do.
They will also protect if FD goes bust/closes as the FD doesnt keep the money. In this case you would just pick another FD.

But are they any atheist graveyards?

Me I don't care, no family so they can throw me where they like. Don't want any ministers etc. After just a piece of dead meat.

I recommend Kirkwoods, Kings Rd, Belfast

An independent family owned business, unlike Dignity which is a big PLC
