Debt letters

Hi all, i need some help regarding a collections agency called capquest, they are writing to a previous address where i still have my mail forwarded from regarding a debt purchased from halifax for £2520.90. They are now threatening court action and bailiffs to seize goods, i have had a bit of debt in past which i have cleared only to hear from this company after appx 8 years (cant even remember having a halifax credit card to be honest) thay are asking for me to contact them to sort a payment arrangement by tomorrow!! do i phone them or write to them and any suggestions on what to say. Sorry that was really longwinded:o

Even if yours, presumably the debt would be statute barred?

If you also don't recognize the debt then there is a letter in the following link that also denies knowledge of it.

If it has been 8 years as you state and the debts were un-secured then, as previously mentioned, it should be statute barred by now.

Write to them asking for proof of the debt, this of course will need to be in the form of the original credit agreement with Halifax, which they of course wont have.

Consider it this way if someone knocked on your door and said you owe them £2500 would you pay up or ask for proof?

They are chancers so play them at their own game.

Oh and please dont be scared of the threats about court action and balliffs etc

Print your name by hand rather than using your signature.
