Try Nildram - been on them since i moved back here from England in May 05 - brilliant service - I am on Broadband2go with 500 mins voice calls thrown in - 8meg connection 2.5gb download - all for £15.99 a month
If I go over 2.5gb they just charge for the extra in batches of 2gb at .99p per gb - I have never gone over 2.5gb.
If you are transferring from another ISP there is no set up charge but you have to buy or supply your own modem or router.
There is no minimum contract so you can change with a month's notice if you don't like them.
Finally check feedback on http://adslguide.org.uk/ where you can compare feedback on various providers.

Hi there I was posting the same sort of question a week ago. After spending what seems like days upon days researching for the best and cheapest broadband, I've signed up with madasafish, after looking throught the internet forum and checking the adslguide they're coming out really well, although I'll report back next week when my new computer has arrived and its all set up.
Goodluck with your search

Dont go with AOL. They are horrific! I have had too many bad experiences with them to type!
They had a free phone customer service line (which was good because it usually takes about half an hour to get through), now they have changed it to freephone to the people who subscribe to AOL phone service. Its not even based in UK and i have a lot of trouble understanding the indian accent, espically when its all technical talk (which i dont understand anyway!!).
I would NOT reccommend them....Undefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!

As far as I am aware ALL broadband finds it way back to BT anyway. (Unless your provider has LLU, which not many do?)
There are only two differances:
1. How congested is your providers pipe. (i.e. the amount of capacity he has bought from BT) If nearly full then contention is an issue, if not then no probs.
You will never find out if your provider is at the limit of his capacity unless you sign up and try. (by which time it is too late)
2. Cost ??????.......
Cost you know in advance but you do not know the answer to 1.
Take the average of the answers on this forum, square them, take away the number you first thought of, and use a pin to predict the correct answer!Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.0 -
Ginger, Go across to the internet boards on this site and see who is offering what. I got great help there last year (especially from Edinburghlass). I was thinking of UTV but heard too many horror stories. In the end I went with Pipex because I also got 500 minutes of free phone calls and they can ramp my speed up to 8mb (pity my line does not support that). Been with them a year now and have not had a single problem or issue, so far (touch wood) it has been 100% reliable.
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -

and you get a free computer, though the monthly price is a bit over the top in my opinion.
