Are you using Firefox with NoScript? If so you might just need to up date NoScript.

What you could try is clearing all the temporary files then closing down your browser. Re start the computer & try again. Could just be something stuck in the cache causing a problem. If this doesn't work them I am stumped.

For future reference, Java and Javascript, despite the names, have nothing to do with each other. The first is a general purpose portable programming language, and the second is almost exclusively used for programming web applications.

In the last couple of days the nationwide site has decided my pin is invalid. I don't have a card reader (or card for that matter).
  • Can I say how much I HATE card readers!
What's the point of having internet banking if you have to carry around this stupid calculator with you everywhere!
What annoys me more is that they want you to use it ALL the time. I got into an argument with Nationwide because they wanted me to use the card reader every time I made a transfer to a payee that I had set up using authorisation from the card reader. They tried to tell me that if they allowed that someone could hack into my account and send payments to those payments, I said, you mean the ones I set up, the ones paying MY bills etc.
Sometimes banks have no common sense.

I agree completely with you Utopia and had the very same argument about having to use the card reader every month to transfer money to either my wife or my own Barclays account. Madness!
  • Is everyone who's annoyed about logging in with the card reader aware that you can still use the old method of logging in? After entering your customer number, the next screen has two tabs - one for your card reader, and one for entering your memorable data.

  • You can use different card readers for different vard readers. When I was working @Nationwide it was known people could use Natwest readers on our accounts.

I personally use a Barclays reader for my Natwest account. The instructions and button names will differ. But the process is all pretty much the same.
