Statutory Credit Report help and advice

I have just recieved my statutory credit report, I knew I had four defaults and a graduaute endowment judgement. Today I set up payment plans for all of my defaults and I am already paying back my graduate endowment judgement through my earnings. I also have an overdraft I am beginning to slowly pay back.
As I begin to pay off these debts will my credit rating begin to improve? Or will it stay as it is until the point that they are all paid off in full? Does anyone know what options I may have in order to help improve my credit status?
I buried my head in the sand for quite some time and am slowly beginning to get back on my feet and just deal with this.
Any advice anyone can offer is very much appreciated!
Many thanks
