Want to buy some slippers for vey swollen feet

My Mum has very very swollen feet, is wheelchair bound and we can't find any slippers or shoes that fit her. Everything is too tight. Can anyone recommend anywhere please? Even mobility shops who stock them do not have any to fit her. So a bit of a problem with winter coming. Thanks.

my local hospital physio dept. had pamphlets recommending a company called cosy feet. they have a website (https://www.cosyfeet.com).

would a pair of crocs fit her or are her feet too swollen for these?

There's another thread somewhere about a company called something like "kiwi sheepskins" which make a kind of slipper which you wrap around the foot to fit - would that be of any use? Sorry, I can't remember the exact name:confused:

A friend of mine who also swollen feet has started getting me to buy slipper socks and then we cut the sides to stop them marking her swollen legs too.

:p Many thanks for all your help.

I saw the thread about the Kiwi company who do a medical boot but they don't have a sole so not practical - pity.

Crocs wouldn't go anywhere near her feet. Cosyfeet I have seen advertised and we can order via the website but really she needs to try these on HOWEVER I saw in my local paper this morning an advert for disabled peoples footwear and they sell them! So I shall ring when they open this morning and ask if they have EEEEE+ fittings in stock - this could be the start of a good friendship!

Slipper socks won't go anywhere near her either. So you can tell how swollen they are. Elephants feet I suppose you could call them  ;):p .

Many thanks for your suggestions. I'm going to contact a company called DB shoes who a friend has just emailed me about. How good is it that you can't find anything, you ask for help and everyone comes up trumps:T . Thanks alot, you lot! ;)

I don't know if its any help, but I work on a clothing dept and I helped a lady the other day whose feet and legs were very swollen, she couldn't wear shoes at all and we managed to find a pair of mens slippers to fit her.

hope you manage to find something

Went to a store called Alphamarque, who were in a large town but in a part I would never go to. They were extremely helpful. Bought two pairs of Cosyfeet. One pair you can get an extention velcro strap but they had run out and have more on order. What they very kindly allowed me to do, at their suggestion, was I paid by cheque but they wouldn't put the cheque through their till until I had taken them to my Mum to se if they fitted her. If they don't I can return them and they will give me my cheque back. How thoughtful was that? So fingers crossed one pair at least will fit but hopefully they both will. I got size EEEEE+. So very pleased! Thank you all.

Oh and I got them VAT free which she is entitled to. :j

My neighbour has the same prob with swollen feet she bus hers from clifford james online.
  • help the aged have a website too .. they do good stuff .. might be an idea to get velcro straps as they can be easily adjusted ... if the pressure is too much and varies throughout the day it can be a phlebitis (sp?) risk.
