settled account now defaulted

hello all,
I agreed a one off settlement figure with a credit card company, and paid the settlement figure in full the day they agreed it.
the total balance was about £900 and they accepted about £730. This was in Aug '10. In Oct '10 they put a default on my account, and passed it to a debt collection agency (who've not yet been in touch).
I have spoken to the credit card company about 8 time, every time, they tell me that it's a mistake, and it should show as "balance settled and account satisfied", yet there still remains a "default" on my credit file.
I spoke to Experian, and they contact the company, who replied saying it was with the customer care team, and would be resolved soon, this was in early Dec '10
Today, I have lodged a complaint with the Financial Ombudsman, who said they've got 8 weeks to reply.
Has anyone else had any similar dealings with wrong "defaults" on their file? How long did it take once the Ombudsman was contacted?
I can't even open a basic bank account at the minute (even with my mortgage company who I owe £120k)
cheers

Can't advise on how long it may take, but i'd also make a complaint to the ICO. Dod you put the complaints in writing or just speak to them on the phone? They should have told you what they were doing to rectify the situation within 30 days of making a complaint. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

The financial ombudsman really is fantastic!! I have used them numerous times. Can't praise them enough.
In saying that, it is wrong that banks etc need someone like that to make sure that they are behaving reasonably and fairly!!!Original Mortgage Debt - £130,330.
