Amusing article from todays Guardian:
'The government told us to do it'
This week environment minister Ben Bradshaw urged shoppers to teach supermarkets a lesson by dumping wasteful packaging at the cash till. It's not often a member of the government recommends direct action. What would the big chains make of it? We sent three writers to find out ...

Oh I love that so much!
Feel an urge to go to a supermarket with a load of friends and each choose a different checkout to go to at the same time and leave the packaging there!! Can you imagine their faces!

For those of you who don't have the 'front' to make your point at the tills, which admittedly will inconvenience those behind you, just do it in the car park and leave all the packaging in the trolleys.0

Please don't. This will just get blown around and create huge amounts of litter.
If you don't have the 'front' to do it, then just recycle at home (or better still, don't use the supermarket).
Inconvenience is what it is about - inconvenince enough people for long enough and profits are affected, which will make them (hopefully) remove some of the packaging.ॐ Signature Removed by Someones Mum. ॐ0 -
Don't do it on very windy days then...0

Well I'll admit to not having the nerve
Also dare I wonder, if you do leave the packaging behind, do they just put it in the dustbin for the landfill anyway
I do re-use my own bags, and avoid anything thats overly packaged, as much as I can.0 -
I do think they undermined their case a bit in the article when they started unwrapping to the point where you could smell the food, i.e. it wasn't protected at all.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

Goto a real food shop and you can smell food, as it is not protected. Not like the sterile, clinical feel of a supermarket - all natural smells kept hidden away behind plastic, then false smells artificially pumped in.ॐ Signature Removed by Someones Mum. ॐ0 -
Haha very good.
