in Cutting tax
Hi, I really need some help understanding my tax.......
My employer since 2008 has 'charged' an incorrect tax code as it wasnt registered that I had a company car and it now appears I owe the Inland Revenue just under £2, 000 !!!!!
Year 2008 - 2009 I was supposed to be on Tax code 304L and my employer had 647L (474.80 owed for shortfall).
Year 2009 - 2010 they left me on 647L (£687.00 owed shortfall)
I am being put on Tax Code K94 for 2011- 2012 without deductions owed for 2010 - 2011.
They are saying that my employer was still charging code 647L when it should have been 165L - estimated I owe around the £700.00 mark tax for this year
I am so confused and to be honest very upset about the amount of money I now owe to the Inland Revenue and concerned I am not going to be able to afford to pay back what they are asking for over the next 12 months - I am paying for a wedding May 2012 !
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Not much you can do about it...you could take it up with your employer, however jobs are scarce these days.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

I would contact HMRC and ask if they can spread the underpayment collection over a longer period - you can only ask!0
