Where can i get a job
treads
i am really new to this after being a watcher for over a year now!!
i am struggling with a boss at work who is bullying me and my employer dosnt seem to want to do anything about it , they are going through the usual channels of mediation etc ( but as i cant really stand to be in the asme room as him , i cant see any point in this), i know i havent got the stomach for a big fight and would rather walk away frm the job , rather than fight it out ( some may say this is a cowards way ).
just looking for advice on wher to look for jobs other than the normal routes etc
thanks in advance for any help given

hi there!!! welcome! Its not the cowards way out. i have been bullied in the workplace and walked away from my dream job due to one really nasty individual.
your confidence will be low due to your situation. you need to take some time out and start looking for other jobs. try and be positive although you do have this problem hanging over your head (easier said than done, i understand)!
i have been there so feel free to rant!
(hugs)

Hi Treads,
Bullying at work is far too common, but you will find lots of people on here who have been through it (me included) and who will offer you support whatever decision you make.
I don't think you are a coward for wanting to leave. In my case I got to a point where I knew it just wasn't going to get any better, and for my sanity I knew I was best just to walk away.
What kind of work will you be looking for? We might be able to point you in the right direction of some good jobsearching websites.
No matter what anybody (on here, or anywhere else) says, just make sure you do what is right for you. Things always work out in the end xGone ... or have I?0 -

treads no-one beleives you can't do it. just you!!!
you'll find it easier in your jobsearch if you have a positive frame of mind. have faith in yourself. the situation you are in will make you stronger for the future. we are here to help.

Depending on what area you are in, some good websites are:
https://www.jobcentreplus.co.uk, and
https://www.reed.co.uk
These are the ones I check everyday, I'm looking at the moment too!
Jobcentre Plus is the Jobcentre one, and the Reed website tends to have lots of jobs from agencies.
Agencies do tend to have a lot of customer service work, and the best way to find a good agency is by recommendation. Some are lovely and genuinely want to find you a job you'll enjoy, some just want to place in a job asap so they get their commission. In fact, I have just worked for an agency who were downright bullies.
If you are happy to let us know what area you are in, maybe people could recommend some agencies?
I have also looked at what organisations I would like to work for, considering their reputations and their policies on disability etc (even for those that are not disabled, I think it is a good indicator as to how they treat their staff). Through this I am looking at local colleges, the district council, and a housing association. They seem to be more 'caring' types.
In my experience bullies do it because they are useless at their own job, and just want to make other people look and feel worse. You will get your own back when you go on to bigger and better things.
Keep in touch with how you're getting on xGone ... or have I?0 -
