When to use the Spam Button (and when not to)

Hi everyone
Just a reminder that the spam button is for removing genuine spam.
It's great that you all want to help out with keeping the forum clear and running smoothly but can you please make sure you only use it for spam.
Using it to remove posts or threads you feel have been posted on the "wrong board" isn't appropriate. If the Forum Team sees that's happening it'll have to take action on the forum users doing it, which we really don't want as your hearts are in the right place and you're genuinely just trying to help.
When to use it
Spam - click the spam button
When not to use it
Threads posted on Grabbit that would get better responses somewhere else - in this case PM the link to the board's board guides.
Thanks
Andrea

Can you use the report button for wrongly placed posts etc?0

Apparently my first post was spam because I found aftershave that was cheap on ebay.0

Personally I didn't see your post but presumed you made a link to an auction. We get a new user, first post is a link to an auction site and the immediate first thought will be spam. This will always be the case. Right or wrong, you can make general observations about being able to source aftershave on ebay but links make it look like self promotion.
Perfumes and so forth are quite often not genuine on ebay so this may not be the best type of 'bargain' to promote here.
Welcome and don't be put off posting. Most posters here are quick to eradicate any suspicion of spam cos we don't want our site clogged up with itPlease do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

I was told that if a certain number of people click the spam button the post disappears, is this true?0

I use my iPod touch a lot and find I sometimes click the spam button when flicking the screen up to move the text, it may be better if it was either a 2 click process (ie click to say spam, then click to confirm) or the spam button was on the left side0

Was just about to post the same thing - it's too easy to hit the spam button while the screen is still adjusting and though you can reverse it, it would be much better as a two click process with a confirmation that that is what you intended to do.0 -
I completely agree that it should be changed as lots of folk access this site on phones which means we have to scroll up n down. I regularly accidentally report as spam then have to try and find which post it was do I can rectify it. It ain't half frustrating!!!
It should certainly have a confirmation box pop up to prevent numerous accidental spam reports.:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A
