ok, I dont have the exact details, but i think it works something like this, they show you the per person rate on the first page, it assumess their will be two of you. So for two people for two nights you only get charged the £140. Normally you would be charged £140 a night so total cost would be £280, hence the two for one.

Although you might not be able to find the same rate if you try to book two nights without using the offer link. So this price may be different to the "rack" rate, but is still usually cheaper.

I have just booked 2 nights for Monday/Tuesday of next week in Kensington and it came up as £62.50 per night plus tax. When I reserved it, it said £125 per night plus tax, but no charge on 2nd night. You have your card charged before your stay, so make sure you can make it.
So 2 nights in London for £150, good saving compared to the rack rate and lastminute.
  • What they do to calculate the per night week is take the one night your being charged for and half it, therefore when you go to checkout the first night is the full price and the second night is marked as free.

If you check out the equivelant cost on any of the travel sites such as lastminute etc you will find their per night charge more expensive.
Obviously if you don't need the second night then this is not an offer your going to benefit from.

To confirm I wanted to stay two nights in Nottingham and chose the Nottingham Marina Holiday inn. The cost of the stay was £80 for two nights with this offer. Therefore £40 per night and that was for a room with two double beds (not sofa beds) that will sleep upto four people!!!

The two for one is based on their 'Best Available flexible rate'.

Edited - have got the rate, my error - 70 quid a night on 2 for 1 but with 28 quid tax added! makes it 84 quid a night all in! Not as cheap as first thought...

That seems steep TBH per night. Tax was already added for me on every quoted price, not added later.

I thought I'd get some example quotes for actual bookable stays to show the typical offers available.

    Newcastle City Centre - £37.50prpn (21-23 Aug)
    (£67.50prpn on lastminute.com)

    Brighton Seafront - £52.50prpn (24th - 26th July)
    (£88.00prpn on lastminute.com)

London Heathrow - (Crowne Plaza) £37.50prpn 13-15 May)
    (£60.00prpn on lastminute.com)

Near Alton Towers - £27.50 prpn (17-19 July)
    (£46.50prpn on lastminute.com)

Also if you are happy staying outside a city centre there are numerous hotels where it can cost less than £30prpn, I have found these in Nottingham/Derby and Washington.

This offer is probably the cheapest way to book a two night stay with the holiday inn brand although not strictly half price in all cases. The above prices include VAT. It is also true to say that the offer seems more plentiful and cheaper if you stay mid week or include a sunday in your stay.

  • I just tried booking this for holiday inn London regents park. Their priority club members service was down so I called to book.
It turns out tge site is slightly deceptive as it quotes an average nightly rate on the first page which is doubled by the time you come to pay.
So it implied my rate was £117 average nightly rate. So I assumed as it was 2 for 1 that total price would be £117.
Wrong it is £234 plus vat.
Now the interesting bit is I stayed at the same hotel for one night about a month ago for £117 plus vat.
This in my opinion is a bit of a con.
The person who I called agreed that the site was confusing when I said it was deceptive.
