youve got to get some peanut butter m&m's there delicious, they also now have pretzel, coconut, dark, mint, almond flavours but i have not tried these, they also had a strawberry and peanut butter and these were moreish. i love peanut butter sweets and there much more popular in america for some reason, peanut butter twix, butterfinger bars, if you like cinnamon theres big red gum, and hot tamales, we have bought back quite a lot of american foodstuffs and have not had a problem cant help you on the seed though.

I know it's not gardening related but over the counter medications such as ibuprofen, hayfever tablets and cold medications are usually much cheaper & I buy these in bulk when I'm in the USA. As are razor blades.

For food TraderJoes is great. It's a nice food shop with organic & Deli type foods. You can get things like chocolate covered coffee beans & other chocolate/sweet treats that are good for gifts (all good not American chocolate). They have some nice skincare ranges, I like the gardener's handcream. They also sell a good Polish vodka (Chopin vodka) which is not cheap but it's cheaper there than I can find anywhere in the UK. I don't know where in Florida your daughter is going so you'll need to check if they have a store where she's going to be:

    Wrong forum.
Be careful of duty, that could still make thing very expensive.
I can't see Amazon shipping to a Hotel room, can you???

Yes they do. I ordered on-line from my room in Florida last March, changing my mailing address to the hotel/room number and they delivered within a few days. DONT FORGET to change your address back to your home address when you get home !
  • I've brought seeds, both flower and vegetable, from the US several times now. I'm pretty certain you aren't supposed to so I've always been quite prepared to hand them over if challenged.

My regular items to bring home from Florida are:

    Key Lime juice

    Orange Blossom Honey

Cheddar Cheese popcorn (or white cheese)

Kraft peanut butter chips for baking

Smucker Grape Jelly (although it's heavy but I usually have a small jar)

Twizzels (especially the yellow and pink sour ones)

    Crest whitening toothpaste

    Big Red Cinammon Gum

Dried Onion Soup mix (great in many dishes, never used it for soup!)

Gold Bond medicated body lotion (amazing stuff it's menthol and goes cold when you rub it in)

I'm sure there is more but that's my long term favourites

I just returned! check your baggage allowance. This has recently changed on most airlines, however, you can book an extra online, then cancel it if you dont need it.
    peanut butter m&m are delicious.
    dryer sheets
    bedding
    towels
    childrens clothes
    mens underwear
    baking stuff
    doggie clothes
dont forget the huge duty free vodka....
    Loving the sunny days!
  • will you be allowed seeds?
and will they even grow here, we have a very different climate., hence they have very different plants
but make sure they take the labels off so they dont look like brand new things

will customs not charge any taxes on this then? i'm sure my daughter's bf's family (whom she's going with) don't do this with the designer stuff they bring back tho'...

i thought of setting up an Amazon.com account, that way i can pay in dollars as a way of not paying too much in sterling - is this a good idea? i thought that the customer service levels in the US is so good that they'll bend over backwards to help you, so the hotel wouldn't mind accepting parcels. if this is a prob. then i'll use my daughter's friend's address then.

so you hide yours in your baggage then?

    Crest whitening toothpaste
is this any better than the British brands then? atm, we use Cordylsol toothpaste - is there an American equivalent to this, i wonder?
    Big Red Cinammon Gum

Dried Onion Soup mix (great in many dishes, never used it for soup!)
that sounds interesting - any other dried packet foods, I could bring back?
Gold Bond medicated body lotion (amazing stuff it's menthol and goes cold when you rub it in)
thought about getting some skincare products

This is DEFRA's official description of what vegetation can and cannot be brought in for personal use from various parts of the world (from the USA - 5 packets of seed but NOT potato seeds) :
