As I said I do not agree with inflated fees however it really is a 'like it or lump it' situation.
why... its a commodity , you either buy it or go eslewhere

exactly as PS states .. a few don't load, so it not a cartel

I had a survey done on my house today for a remortgage with YBS.

    The survey cost me £350.

The surveyor was in my house for 10 minutes and then he was off.

Yes I know he has to go away and write up the report, but someone is making alot of money out of this!
  • I, like many other people, move my mortgage when the discounted years have come to an end.

This incurs costs which include the valuation fee.

If I am changing provider after only two years, why can't the previous valuation survey be purchased from the existing company (who no doubt retains it on their records) at a fraction of the cost.

Surely a property cannot change that much in two years?

I intend to look for a 5 year discounted rate this time round as the fees associated with changing mortgage lender are increasing the overall amount every time!

PS - for same purposes, anyone ever used a conveyancer instead of a solicitor? Are they cheaper. Do we HAVE to use either?

But you can find deals that include free valuations and free legal fees if you do not want to pay for these
