    I totally agree, thank you so much to Martin for this. Hubby and half our friends keep goign on at me about why we are still renting, when we have debts up to our eyeballs. Any mortgage we did get would be on horrendous amounts of interest as we have too bad a credit history to get any good deals. Also we dont have a deposit to put down, so it would be a 100% mortgage and we could probably only afford to do the interest only route. Much better to stay renting and sort ourselves out than try to buy somewhere, it all fall around our ears and end up living with our parents!!

  • The other big advantage of renting rather than mortgaging at your ages is that you are free to travel or take up fabulous job opportunities in other parts of the country/world.As many older people such as myself will testify a property is only worth what someone else is prepared to pay for it; no matter what so called valuation you have received the only way you can realise that is if you find a buyer. There is a lot more to life than owning bricks and mortar.
