Credit card liable to default not on credit report

Hi,
I've got myself into trouble after my husband left me last year and I've got a Natwest credit card among others that may soon default.
I want to pay it back but I can't afford it at the moment - and it's also the biggest outstanding amount.
I owe some other cards which I could afford if I didn't need to pay the months behind on this one right now.
I've been told this card will default in a couple of weeks time.
The question I have is that this card is probably 15 years old and has never shown up on any credit report I've had sent.
If a default is applied to that card and I set up a long-term repayment plan with them after that, will my future credit be affected? (will/can it show up on a future credit report?)
thanx
oh, and I'm a newbie so please excuse any mistakes

Hi
Have you had reports from all 3 credit agencies? -experian, equifax and callcredit.
Sometimes creditors do only start reporting when there is neagtive info to put on - although this usually tends to be the likes of utility companies etc.
It could be that with your account being so old that they never originally obtained your permission to share data with the CRAs. If that was the case then I would imagine that even if you default they couldn't report it. But I wouldn't like to say it definitely won't happen. They may be a way round it and by sending you an official default notice that tells you they will share your info that could be enough to allow them to do so.
Sorry I know this isn't the yes or no answer that you would like.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
