Blood Oranges - what to do with them

Morning!
I went shopping last night and bought some whoopsied oranges (7) however on getting them home I realised they were blood oranges!
Can I use them as normal oranges in cooking (dont fancy eating them) or will they be too tart?
Any suggestions for good blood orange recipes
I have read the 'using up oranges' thread but want to check the difference between normal and blood
Thanks

No difference at all from normal oranges other than juice being red/pink .....eat or use as normal0

I made a lovely chocolate orange cake with the zest and juice of two blood oranges (like you I didn't realise they were different until I cut them open as they came in my vegbox).GC 2023 June £72/500 NSDs 1/100

Hi,
Slice them up and lay them on a baking tray in your airing cupboard, and let them harden up. Then make a smal hole at the top and thread ribbon through - amazing christmas decorations for next year and/or gifts for appreciative friends! :-)Married the Man of my dreams 30/08/2008Baby No.1 arrived 04/04/2012, gorgeous little girl after 4 years of fertility issues!!:j:T0 -

Why on earth not? They are the nicest, juiciest oranges around I think. They used to be available much more when I was a child, then they seemed to go out of fashion. I'm delighted that they've come back over the past few years - and my children love them too!
They don't call them blood oranges any more though do they? They seem to be either red or ruby oranges. Oh well, a rose by any other name . . .0 -
You can make anything you want with them - if anything, I often find the blood oranges sweeter than the yellow ones. You can make marmalade (I did this before - lovely colour, as well as taste), juice, use them in cakes.
I actually prefer the blood oranges - it is just that they are not for sale much!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

Think you may be getting confused between blood oranges - sweet but with red juice and seville oranges - bitter for marmalade. The latter can be got at 75p whoopsied in Sainsbos. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
