Reducing interest on Vanquis card

Hi all,
I currently have a Vanquis card with just under £3000 outstanding on it. I initially took it out as a way of repairing my credit rating, which worked pretty well until a few months ago when I got into some difficulty with it. It's not horrendous yet, but it's difficult to keep on top of, as it has a huge 38.8% APR.
I was hoping to transfer the balance to a card with a better rate, or else take out a loan at a better rate to pay it off. However, having played woith the 'soft search' calculator offered by MoneySupermarket and a couple of other palces, it looks like I still wouldn't be accepted for any of the balance transfer cards as I still have a bad credit rating/score.
I'm currently working abroad, earning more than enough money to live here but not a vast amount by UK standards. I can afford to pay £250 a month off the card, but that's the maximum I can afford.
Just wondering if anyone has any advice/reccommendations as to what I could apply for to improve the situation?
thanks!
Andy

I don't have an answer Andy. Are you paying the £250 or is that what you plan to pay. I have a card with that kind of interest rate so know how awful it is. You may just have to try paying off as much as you can and not use the card at all.0
