I'm around £60K in debt to credit cards and banks, have no job at the moment and am looking to declare myself bankrupt. I'm resident in England and I'm wondering whether anyone has used a Bankruptcy Consultancy firm to help with paperwork etc. If so I would be very grateful for any advice as to who the best firm to approach is and any gotchas. Many thanks in advance.

hi..as above...............plus it will cost you ITRO £1000 more to get a 'professional' to fill in your paperwork...and believe me, you'll still do most of the work! No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0

Yes, I agree with the above. It can seem extremely daunting to complete all the paperwork but with advice from the debt charities and help from the good people on this forum you WILL be able to do it yourself and save a huge amount of money. A word to the wise - don't leave it until the last minute though. I left filling in my BR forms until the day before my court date and it ended up taking hours longer than I thought it would!
Best of luck to you."I got food in my belly

Agree with the rest of the folks. Talk to someone like National Debtline and post on here and all you will need to pay is your £600 fees. Though if you are on benefits then you should be able to get the court fee remision and only have to pay the £450 OR fees.
Court fee remission and forms.- HMCS - Court fees do you have to pay them? (And guidance on completing the fee remission form). (pdf)
- HMCS - Form EX160 - Application for a fee remission (pdf)
- Example application for a fee remission based on gross annual income - EX160 (Thanks to NE Derbyshire CAB)
- Example application for a fee remission based on permitted benefits - EX160 (Thanks to NE Derbyshire CAB)
- Possible assistance with Bankruptcy costs / fees (Thanks to NE Derbyshire CAB)

don't forget...although the court papers amount to over 40 pages [don't forget to get them copied in triplicate]....a lot of those pages may not even apply to the individual seeking to be declared BR.
is the online version available yet again? No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0
