I'm very interested in this thread. OH tried to cancel PPI on a loan and they said they will cancel but won't refund the past PPI payments even though we feel it was missold - he's self employed. They said he would have been given a leaflet which explains the PPI.

He doesn't remember ever getting the leaflet (until they sent him a copy this month). Should we write again and say that it's their responsibility to ensure he knew the details and so it was missold? Will that get us anywhere??

I have a loan with A&L with PPI - is it worth ringing them to cancel this (had the loan fro two years)

Also, maybe slightly related, when I went from my graduate account to the standard account they put overdraft protection on - at what ever cost it is per month of the overdraft - can i a)stop this and b) get back what i have paid?
No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

A little update from me here, I got £790 back from HBoS for the sake of one letter, they didn't even attempt to argue the matter.

MBNA is still with the Ombudsman, 6 weeks remaining for them to reply to me or the FOS will start full investigation.

    about 4 weeks.
After a few days they sent a letter saying they were investigating my complaint, then I got another 2 weeks later saying same thing and sorry for delay, then a couple weeks after that a letter apologising saying a full refund would be made to card.

On the next statement was "Credit Care Refund - £790"

But, a week later they lowered my credit limit to £50 more than the new balance, so there's a lesson to be learned I'm sure.

It is always worth asking, especially if the insurance doesn't cover you like you thought it did.....

oh a question for you, are you getting "help" with the weed or did you go cold turkey? (well done by the way!)

    Hello,

First time poster, please be gentle.

I'm trying to sort my finances out and my biggest payment at the moment is for a loan with Egg - £360 or so a month. I've got payment protection insurance on this loan, however it's next to useless. I'd have to be unemployed for six (!) months before it starts to pay out.

My question is this - can I just phone Egg and get them to cancel the insurance, or am I tied into it until I pay the loan off?

    Thanks in advance,

    Mark
i had payment protection on cards and car loan and bank loan they used every trick in the book to get out of payng in all but onedebt they didnt pay save your money

Barclays have admitted on the phone that they have mis-sold me a policy, so thats a good thing, they give me the loan and told me that i had to have payment protection, when i got the loan i didnt work so its no good to me, i was told on another thread its like giving someone car insurance that doesnt have a car, they owe me £957.24 which i am hoping that i will get back and my loan reduced, with the payment protection cancelled, i want that money back, i will hear from them in 5-10 days, on whether i will get it back, but she said on the phone that i should get it back. I will be phoning them on the 22nd december to see what the outcome is. i am relying on getting this money back has well. maybe i shouldnt?
