Financial Disassociation

Hi
Do all joint accounts, loans & mortgages have to be closed/repaid before I can get financial disassociation from me ex?
We've lived separately for over a year now & I have my own income, flat & bank acount.
We've been unable to sell the house so it's now being rented out so I'm still "technically" tied to him but pay no money towards the mortgage or joint loan (part of the separation agreement).
Is financial disassociation only possible when there are absolutely no ties between two people?
Thanks in advance.
