Littlewoods 28 day rule

Dear All,

This has probably been answered somewhere else but I get paid monthly on the 15th of every month and pay all my bills on that date. For the past two months I have become aware that Littlewoods payment dates are creeping forward a few days which is meaning they are sometimes asking for 2 payments a month. I always try to pay more off my bill that the minimum but I don't think it's fair them expecting 2 payments a month. I have asked them if they could consider a direct debit for 15th of every month but they just said as per terms and conditions they require a payment every 28 days. I've been charged 2 x £12 late payment fees now this year and normally I pay everything on time I have a good credit record.
Do you think it's worth me pushing this one to get them to accept one payment per month or is it a no hoper?

Thanks in advance.

  • I'm not sure they would accept that, can you not just pay minimum around the date is is due and then more when you've been paid? Thats what I had to do with Very to try and keep on top of it - its very common with catalogues to bill 4 weekly.

It has been asked before but to my knowledge nobody has ever got them to change the repayments. You do need to ensure you pay at least the minimum between each statement date. There should only ever be 1 month in year with 2 payments (13payments over 12month).

You should be able to work out which month will be the double montheach year by checking through with a calender and then just set yourself some sort of reminder for that month such as a note in your diary.

(To keep the littlewoods rep happy: I am not posting in an official capacity. I am not asking for account numbers nor am I asking for personal information. My views are my own and not any official line)

I believe from what I've been shown, the statements are produced on a particular date, then payments are generally expected 28 days after that, the occasions where its a 5 week month then 2 payments may be requested in one calender month

As for changing the date, I believe that the statement generation date is connected to your very first order.

If you was to pay by direct debit. it would be debited around 5 days before the payment due date

ETA: Dates are fixed and rarely changed as Tixy says
