Tubagrip - waterproof

Hello,

Not even sure that such a thing exists, but I want to buy something to cover my leg when I am swimming - horrible varicose vein and I'm only 34, so its very embarrassing. I've got a tubagrip for wearing for normal sports and when I wear shorts, but its not waterproof.

Anyone got any ideas, please?

Thanks,

Duncan

Might be worth asking your GP or local pharmacist, but a few thoughts ...

Who's going to be looking at your legs while you're swimming?

It's going to leak at the ends anyway, so what's wrong with 'normal' tubigrip if you just want it covered up?

Some swimming pools might not allow you to keep it on in the pool anyway: I have come across situations where I haven't been allowed to wear a t-shirt in an open-air pool, and I find it easier to keep my shoulders covered than rely on suncream to prevent sunburn!

    Hi,

Yes, I thought someone would say that!?! :o

I know that no one is looking at my legs when I am swimming. Oh, its just the getting in and out, you know?

I shouldn't care I know, I'm just very aware of them. They make my leg very swollen compared to the "normal" leg.

And the NHA keep cancelling my operation!!!!

Not a bad suggestion to just wear a normal tubigrip. I suppose it will get soaked, being just fabric, but so do your swimming trunks at the end of the day don't they?

Thanks for taking the time to advise me.

  • Long leg swimming costume? I presume the varicose viens are below the knee and these longer legged swimming costume wouldn't work?

and wearing a wetsuit may be a bit over the top?

Waterproof tubigrip doesn't exist, but there is an item called sealcast, which is used to water protect plastered arms and legs when having baths and showers

Good comedy!!!! No, wearing at wetsuit to go swimming would be slightly more embarrassing for me than having varicose veins in one of my legs!!!

    Thanks anyway.

There is make up that you can get to cover up these types of things (dont dismiss this straight away just because you are a guy!) but i dont know how well they will cope with the water, but this one says that it is totally waterproof and you can swin in it!

    Its here on ebay -

and here is the website (it says here that it is waterproof as well)

There is this product (i think it is the same thing that Sam_26 mentioned :) ) If you carry on down the page right to the bottom, i think it looks much better than the one at the top. Maybe its a bit too much though? I dunno, but its an option :)

There isnt really much information on this one, but if you like the sound of it, maybe email them?

Or why not just wrap a towel around your waist right until the last minute, and leave it on the poolside?

Yup, another good idea from inkie.

But then I live with DH's eczema, which has never been pretty and can be all over his face and body, but it doesn't stop him using the pool and sauna. And I have the proportions of a beached whale, but if anybody's got nothing better to do than gawp at me when I'm getting in and out of the pool, at least I've got a richer life than them ... :rotfl:
