You do realise Vlookup and If/And/Or statements are basic functions, don't you?0

If they were basic then how comes they are in the Intermediate level of learning. But I know what your saying they are quite simple things.Investments - £1,290.62 (Shares on a DRIP Strategy)

Intermediate level of what learning?Goal = £9,000 in 2011, starting in March

Also growing, scrimping and crafting to not need as much in the first place!0 -
Whilst in their basic form VLOOKUP and IF (and their associated commands) are quite straightforward, in Denzel's defence they can become quite complex tools when structured properly with multiple arguments/databases, etc. This is especially true if they're used within Macros and the suchlike.
With regard to Excel work, the work I've personally come across has just been basic data entry. I haven't come across anything that calls for real Excel skills (having said that I haven't looked too hard!)“This isn't life in the fast lane, it's life in the oncoming traffic.” - Terry PratchettDebt Target - £0 Target Date - January 2015eo 07/13 - £23,080 eo 08/13 - £21,084 eo 09/13 - £20,347 eo 10/13 - £19,5550 -
Excel Data Entry would be sufficient. anything I can do either in my lunch break or an hour or two at home.Investments - £1,290.62 (Shares on a DRIP Strategy)

Might be worth looking on Freelancer or Elance to see if there's anything there. Pay rates when I last looked weren't that hot though.“This isn't life in the fast lane, it's life in the oncoming traffic.” - Terry PratchettDebt Target - £0 Target Date - January 2015eo 07/13 - £23,080 eo 08/13 - £21,084 eo 09/13 - £20,347 eo 10/13 - £19,5550 -

Unless you get to developer level and incorporate VBA skills along with some SQL and Access knowledge its been my experience that Excel skills are always part of the job rather that the job itself.
That said I'm an Excel Developer (see above!) and never seem to have problems getting work

That makes sense. The market would seem to be at both ends of the spectrum (i.e. data entry - developer). The middle ground, it is normally assumed, is handled within an individual's job.
I've a background it IT (long time ago, punching holes in cards, COBOL, etc) before moving into HR and I've always kept any Excel work in-house, insisting that team members understand how to analyse & work data correctly.“This isn't life in the fast lane, it's life in the oncoming traffic.” - Terry PratchettDebt Target - £0 Target Date - January 2015eo 07/13 - £23,080 eo 08/13 - £21,084 eo 09/13 - £20,347 eo 10/13 - £19,5550 -

With this in mind do you think it would be worth the OP (or anyone really) looking to get a MOS or MCAS qualification to help them get a job?
Or are they seen as irrelevant in the workplace?0
