Statute Barred Debt - Northern Ireland

My boyfriend and I live in England but he is being chased by CCS Ltd for a debt which he allegedly accrued whilst living in Northern Ireland.
We don't think he owes the money, but in any case the debt is statute barred and we would like to write to CCS stating this.
Which legislation applies here? The Limitations Act 1980 applies in England but in NI it's the Limitation Order 1989 that applies. What do I quote in the letter?

I would amend the standard template letter to quote both. That way you are covered regardless.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I think that's what I'll do. Bit of a pain really when he's pretty certain it's not his debt anyway. Thanks for your help.0

Well, in that case you could use this one as a basis

adding in the references to the NI legislation.
As you can see, that letter also denies any knowledge or liability.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
